The Scottish Fold is a breed similar to the British Shorthair, but with folded ears. It is a breed affected by a disease called "Osteochondrodysplasia," a cartilage malformation that causes the ears to bend, the joints to degenerate, and the spine and tail to be affected by short, thick, or misshapen bones. Two Scottish Folds are not allowed to be bred together due to serious health problems. Unfortunately, it is usually crossed with the British Shorthair or American Shorthair. This breed has been banned in several European countries due to their health risks. The Association of British Veterinarians also organized a campaign to stop advertising companies to use them in ads.
